Saturday by Saturday, the football season of 2025/26 is waking up. While the Western League started a couple of weeks ago, followed six days later by the South West Peninsula League’s Friday night match at Newton Abbot, for the likes of the National League and the Southern league, well it starts for real today for all those clubs concerned.
While Falmouth Town have a home fixture against Bashley in the Southern League Division One South, the same league - Mousehole have a 200 mile plus trip to Malvern.
Three steps higher in the National League pyramid, Truro City visit Wealdstone, which for City actually won’t be too bad a journey, considering the likes of Carlisle, Gateshead and Hartlepool await them!
While many a Cornish club will be commencing their season with the thoughts of an interesting campaign ahead of them, spare a thought for the likes of Grampound who instead of enjoying a season in St Piran League, Division Three East after gaining promotion, have instead had to inform the league that they can’t raise sufficient numbers to start the season and therefore have had to withdraw!
